Q: What do you guys think of the Ford Fusion Hybrid?
Buying a new car soon and thinking of a hybrid. I was considering the Toyota Prius but I think it looks like a toy and girly car. So now I am considering the Ford Fusion Hybrid, what are your opinions on that?
A: It seems to be a pretty sweet car. I really like them, and my wife and I are considering one ourselves. We have not driven one yet, but will let you know if we do. From what I’ve read it seems to get about the best fuel mileage and seems to be the most usable car of the hybrids. That is just my opinion though. I am kind of a ford guy though.
Q: Additional Service on a Ford Fusion Hybrid?
I just bought a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. I have 2 concerns.
1. In addition to the manufacturer warranty. I have been stuck with 2 service plans(bumper to bumper) which cost about $5010.00 on paper but come to $6480.00 including the interest. Is this necessary? Any additional care needed for hybrids?
2. I have good credit, around 800. I have still been stuck with an APR of 8%. Should I consider Auto Refinancing?
A: The additional warranty is a waste of money. Most of the time it is only a dealer profit.
I would try to get the Ford Dealer to buy back the warranty.
Most Hybrids have to have a warranty on the batteries. The manufacturer knows by history on how long they should last. Most people can not afford the $3000 plus to replace them. Toyota figures the Prius can get 8 years or better on the batteries.
As for the financing you got burned. With the bad economy and Ford pushing low or no interest loans.
Q: Ford Fusion question. What is the expected service life of the Ford Fusion hybrid?
Can you provide proof of your answer? I am thinking of purchasing this car. I know the service life of the Toyota Prius because more information is available since it has been out for a decade. Much thanks.
A: What’s the service life of any other car that you are looking at? (if you wouldn’t ask this of any other “normal” car, then you see why I find this question funny…)
My understanding is that manufacturers are required to keep parts on-hand for at least 10 years for repairs.
If you’re wondering about reliability, check into Ford’s other hybrid (out since the 2005 model year), the Ford Escape Hybrid, and its clones the Mazda Tribute Hybrid and Mercury Mariner Hybrid.
Remember that the hybrid system is warrantied by Ford for 8 years/100,000 miles. If the edmunds.com review is correct, the new Fusion hybrid will also come with 5 years of roadside assistance from Ford as well. http://www.edmunds.com/new/2010/ford/fusionhybrid/101141447/standardwarranties.html
Although Ford developed their own hybrid system, it was so similar to that of the NHW11 (2001-2003 US model years) Toyota Prius that Ford licensed the hybrid technology from Toyota to avoid patent problems. (Ford cross-licensed some other technology, IIRC for cleaner diesels, to Toyota in exchange.) So, you can use some of the general hybrid reliability information about the Prius when considering the Ford hybrid technology.
Q: Can you drive a Ford Fusion Hybrid an extended distance before the gas engine kicks in? How far?
If you own a Fusion hybrid, let me know how far you can drive it with a full charge at 40 mph before your gas engine kicks in.
If I buy one, I’m wondering if I can make it to work and back (30 miles) without burning gas.
A: There are many variables. As a full hybrid, not a range-extended electric vehicle (e.g. the Volt, if it ever comes out), the engine can actually power the wheels, and does so over 47mph, so even if the batteries are 100% charged, when you hit 48, the gas engine will start. The range before the gas engine starts depends on the charge of the batteries at start, external temperature (not very far cold), and many other factors that prevent hard figures coming out on that.
Q: What is a better car a toyota camry hybrid or a ford fusion hybrid? why?
which one do you like the best and why? do you have experience driving BOTH cars? what is it that you do not like about each car in particular?
A: Check the online reviews from “car and driver” and many others. Ford fusion got best car of the year and the fusion hybrid beat toyota. Again, your best bet is to read professional reviews since they drive both and have all the figures for maintenance. Ford also spent 1.2 billion dollars less on warranty repairs last year, proving that the reliability is improving.
Also, go drive them both. See which one you like.
Q: estimate: how much would a 2010 ford fusion hybrid cost in a year?
also:
what does it currently cost?
and how much does a the new clean diesel jetta cost?
and around how much would that cost in a year?
andddd how much does the honda civic hybrid cost now and how much in a year..around?
A: 1. probably about $15,000-17,000
2.$25,000 (base price)
3. $22,100.00-$25,269.00
4. probably around the same as the Ford Fusion
5. $20,561.00 in a yr. $13,700
Any other questions please email me
Q: Does anyone know the song at the end of the Ford Fusion Hybrid commercial?
The one that says “Grow a tree in it.” Lyrics in the commercial are just no, no, no no no no. Something like that.
A: I think it goes something like:
what the hell does this have to do with anything?
Q: What’s a better deal, a 2009 Ford Focus or 2009 Ford Fusion (or hybrid)?
I have a friend who wants to get a new car.
I think the Ford Focus is a waste of money, especially to buy a BRAND NEW one.
I want to suggest to her that the 2009 Fusion Hybrid is worth the extra dough.
Can someone tell me some reasons why the Fusion is a better, logical deal?
A: 1. Better looking
2. Bigger/more space
3. Better Fuel Economy (2010 Fusion hybrid gets 39 mpg, 2009 Focus get’s 28)
By the way, it’s the new 2010 Fusion that’s has the hybrid option
Q: When is the Ford Fusion Hybrid 2010 coming out?
I know it’s coming out Spring 2009 but I can’t find a more specific date.
Does anyone know?
A: Right now!
They are released from the factory and on their way to dealers even as I type!
As I have access to Fords Dealer website I can search the entire country (US)
I just did a search of dealer inventory in my region and found 8 within 175 miles, but many more that will be arriving within the next week or so.
The general public can search only locally (by zip code) from Fords public site:
http://www.fordvehicles.com/index.asp
(click on “search dealer inventory” in the menu on th the left)
If you need a further search or need to know what Hybrid Fusions are on their way to dealers in your region, I can help you search through the dealer site but you will have to e-mail me with the region. The public site doesn’t list the ones that are on the way but my dealer site can even show the exact color, equipment and ETA.
Q: Ford Fusion Hybrid stopped in the middle of the road… Why!?????
?
I have a ford fusion hybrid that I was driving this morning. I was going about 70kph when a warning came up on the left saying “Stop Driving Now”, and my car started slowing quickly until it stopped. Fortunately I got to the side of the road, and was able get the car going again, but I’m terrified to drive it again! Why did this happen!??
A: Disregarding the mental giants that give non-answers like “it’s a Ford”, you should keep in mind that the drive train of a hybrid is much more complex. My first inclination would be to have the dealer plug in to the computer. Also make sure it is running the latest firmware revision. I believe this controls the power management systems.
Q: Bike roof rack for 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid?
Hi folks,
I am looking for a bike roof rack for my 2010 Ford fusion Hybrid. If you know for sure that it will fit, please let me know. Thanks in advance!
BTW I looked at Thule and Yakima racks and found out that Yakima does not offer roof racks yet for Fusion Hybrid. Thule has 2 but no description at all.
A: Not to sound like a crass jerk, but if you are buying a hybrid I would assume you care about fuel economy atleast slightly. Just take off your wheels and put your bike(s) in the backseat and take advantage of the aerodynamic profile of the car.
Q: Negotiating Good Price for Ford Fusion Hybrid?
I test drove the Ford Fusion Hybrid and I think I’m in love with the car… now comes the hard part… negotiating the discount. Do you guys have any tips on how to get a good deal on one of these?
As background, Ford Canada has employee pricing on right now and the dealer invoice price is the price I’m being charged… but the dealer gets a 5% commission paid by Ford Canada.
Yik
A: Ford has limited the production on the Fusion Hybrid, so it is tough to get a deal (that whole supply and demand thing). All you can do is shop around as much as possible. While I get some Canadian tv where I live, I’m American and don’t know the in/outs of Ford Canada’s Employee Pricing. Hope someone else can be of more help!
btw– test drove a loaded Fusion Hybrid and loved it. Way beyond my means (really had no business taking it for a spin) but just had to see what it was like– I’m envious of those who have ‘em!
Q: When will 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid become available in Canada?
Thanks!
A: Most likely in the fall of ‘09, along with most of the new 2010 models.
Q: The 08′ Ford Fusion Hybrid has not been reviewed in Consumer Reports. Where can UI find more information?
A: I really could be wrong here- but I wasn’t aware that the Fusion was even available as a Hybrid. That would sure explain why you can’t find it.
Q: Chris Allen Ford Fusion Hybrid Commercial Music?
What’s the song that plays at the end of the commercial? All I know is that he sings it.
A: Alright With Me -Kris Allen
