Q: How can i find some Volkswagen gti 4 lug rims?
i have a 1998 volkswagen gti, i’m trying to get the stock wheels with all the spokes thats on the volkswagen r32 look on my car. but they have five lug unless there universal. it it possible or do i have to do a conversion?

Q: How do I replace the reverse light bulb on my 2002 Volkswagen GTI?
How do I replace the reverse light bulb on my 2002 GTI? I can get to the other bulbs. The carpet prevents me from removing the reverse bulb. I can see one nut which I assume is for removing the taillight, but not the second nut. I found a guide on the 2006 GTI taillight replacement, but it seems Volkswagen changed everything, so that will not work. If any of you have done and know where
(and what size) the second nut is, please post! Pictures would be very helpful!

A: push the carpet down while wiggling the bulb holder, it will come out it just takes some wiggling and pushing.

Q: What do you think about 2001 or 2002 Volkswagen GTI?
I’m thinking of purchasing a 2001 or 2002 Volkswagen GTI. I heard from one dealer that there have been problems with the transmission for those years, between 85,000-120,000 miles. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is this a reliable car, in general? Thanks!

A: It really depends on how they were treated, I have seen some clutches go out and a few 2-3 shift issues but not many. Mostly it goes down to who drove it last and how hard they drove it

Q: 1989 Volkswagen GTI, What kind of upgrades Can/Should I do?
I am thinking about buying a 1989 Volkswagen GTI. I am a volkswagen fan, and I really like the looks of the older GTI’s. I would also Like to spend a few dollars on some performance parts ( I am not looking to spend thousands and thousands of dollars, as I am not looking to build a race car.) I am just wondering what kind of parts are available, as well as what upgrades would be good investments to make it more fun to drive. Any suggestions? I know I was not very specific, but any suggestions at all would be appreciated.

A: I used to own a 90 GTI manual. I can tell u from experience that parts for these cars can get expensive(depending on what part). First when you buy it you definitely have to change all of the fluids, filters and possibly belts/hoses.If your looking for appearance modifications, painting the car maybe dark blue or metallic black would look good.Also adding some rims. For engine modifications i would go with just a intake. i wouldn’t put a turbo or a chip because it will give you problems later on(old engines).

Q: how do you take a door panel off of a Volkswagen GTI?
The driver side window button for the driver side window on my ‘01 MK4 volkswagen golf GTI broke off, and i need to know how to pop off the door panel to try and fix/replace it. The button for the passenger side is fine though. It was loose for a while and worked but finally broke off.

A: NO motor head, the switch is in the drivers door handle, to replace the switch, you need to remove the upper portion of the door handle (it is held down by clips), pry it up evenly and gently and the entire upper section comes off with the switch, the rest you can figure out if you get this far. It only takes 2 minutes, no sweat

Q: Does anyone know the name of the board that the lights bulbs go into on your taillights on a volkswagen gti?
i have a 1998 volkswagen gti. and my taillights are not working . they told me to replace the lights, but the bulbs goes directly into a circuit board looking thing? do anyone know the name of the board that the bulbs go directly in? because i brought new lights off ebay, but they dont come with the board. my board is bad? my light was loose and water damaged it? any help out there

A: Tail light housing. Never heard that a tail light plugged into a circuit board, no need.

Q: How many miles will a 2000 Volkswagen GTI GLX last for?
im looking into buying a 2000 Volkswagen GTI GLX and it has 159 thousand miles on it. they are asking 5795 for it. it is a vr6 so if anyone has any suggestions or comments then feel free to post them. thanks

A: For what it’s worth, I have a 1999.5 Jetta, with 210,000 on it. I maintain it well, and it still runs fine for the most part. Some cosmetic wear, though.

Q: Sport or Racing cooling parts for 2003 Volkswagen GTI?
I heard that these Volkswagen’s cooling parts aren’t that great, and I want to get the most out of that turbo. My Volkswagen GTI is a 2003, and it is just a plain old 1.8T engine, all stock parts and everything. Just want some advice about where I could find a store in Los Angeles that sells cooling parts for 2003 Volkswagen GTI’s.

A: u would be best to order online. try mjmautohaus.com they hav good deals on alot of stuff. also look into upgrading ur turbo system by getting a bigger turbo and running a front mount intercooler. also check out c3cars.com if u need more help if u want to diy and what not everyone there is quite smart.

Q: Air Conditioning not working in my 2000 Volkswagen GTI?
Hello. I own a 2000 Volkswagen Golf GTI, and my air conditioning has stopped working. I had my brakes done, and asked them to recharge it, they did, but then said my switch for the fan was malfunctioning, so when I turn the fan on, it shuts off my AC compressor. I was wondering if anyone knows how serious this problem is, and about how much will it cost to fix. I am saving money before I take it to the dealer. Thanks!

Q: How to add chrome exhaust tips to 2000 Volkswagen Golf GTI?
I own a 2000 Volkswagen Golf GTI, and it has the muffler with the turn down exhaust tips. The rear bumper doesn’t have a cut out for the exhaust tips, and I was wondering how I could extend the existing tips down and under the rear bumper to add chrome tips on the end of them. I need some kind of elbow to connect to the existing tips so I can make them go straight out under the bumper. If anyone has any advice or ideas, please help. Thanks

A: Exhaust centres have pipe bending tools.
In a way they can carry out all possible modifications.

Q: How to change Volkswagen GTI headlight bulb?
I own a 2000 GTI, and I want to replace the headlight bulbs with brighter ones. I was going to get Silvania Ultras, but are there any nice white and bright bulbs that you recommend that are not too pricy? Anyway, I looked under the hood, and there is a cover that comes off to access the bulbs. The bulb and wire are held in with like a thin metal wire clip. I was wondering how to remove the clip so I can get at the bulb. Thanks

A: It’s hard to explain over the internet. That wire clip is almost like a spring. You have to “bend” it around part of the housing holding the clip on. You really just have to get in there and take a look at it. Play around with the metal piece and you’ll see.

A: it will do it not problem. I know of a guy who tows his boat with his 2.0 jetta.

Hello. I own a 2000 Volkswagen Golf GTI 2 door, and it is missing the drivers side pull handle on the side of the seat to lift the seat forward to let people in the back. I have looked all over the internet, and I can’t seem to find the part. If anybody knows a website or store where I can find the handle, I would greatly appreciate it! Q: When does the 5-door Volkswagen GTI come to the states?
I was wondering when the 5-door GTI will hit stateside. I wanted to get a 3-door model but my girlfriend wants me to get something more “family-oriented”, so i thought, “a 5-door might be just as good but more practical with those 2 extra doors.” The car has already come out in Europe and I saw the pics and I liked what iIsaw. In that case I’ll still be getting that awesome 2.0T. (^__^) I’m hoping this car won’t be as expensive as a GLI. I’m really wanting a hatchback. So awesome.
