Q: Audi A6 and beeping noise when you put the key into ignition?
Anyone by any chance know why this beeping noise starts(3times) as soon as I put the key into ignition?It’s Audi A6. Thanks for help!
By the way,it’s not automatic.

A: Well like many cars now days:

You need to check out your manual if by any chance you don’t have it.
Many manufacturers uses the same warning sounds in example my Acural TL Type-S will beep 3 times if i: Don’t buckle my seat-belt (when i insert my key in the slot) Or if i missed the Performance Routine Check (when there is in ignition) 3 beeps for the same thing

Try to check it out buckle up first without opening the key to ignition then start the car if it stop then is the Seat-Belt warning.
If not then it may be the Routine Performance Check (in example Oil Change) and there perhaps will be an Icon on the Instrument panel for performance check that will go off all the time if you keep prolonging it (You can Reset it if Lousy but Not advisable)

Q: How do I reset the service light on Audi A6 after I change the oil?
Hello I just bought an Audi A6 2004 and the service light just came on to let me know its due for an Oil change. I am going to do it myself if I can, once I have finished how do I reset the light so it comes on again at the right time frame?

A: 2 different methods seem to be working

1) Switch ignition off.
2) Press and hold down reset button for trip odometer in instrument cluster.
3) Switch ignition on while button is pressed down. “Service OIL” appears in the display of the trip odometer.
4) Release button.
5) Pull setting knob for time in instrument cluster until “Service OIL” indication is reset.
“- – -” appears in display.
6) Press reset button for trip odometer again, to advance to next service event.
7) Release button. “Service INSP” appears in display.
8) Pull setting knob for time -1- until “Service INSP” indication is reset. “- – -” appears in display.
9) Switch ignition off.

1. Leave the key in the off position.
2. Hold down the right button the guage cluster.
3. While you are still holding the right button turn the key to the on position
4. Quickly (it will say something on the guage cluster) push and hold the left button on the guage while still holding down the button on the right.

And for the VAG-COM comment…I HIGHLY agree with investing in one…very practical and helpful

Q: How to find the Gas button on a 02 Audi A6?
I just bought a 02 Audi A6 3.0 yesterday and I cannot find where to push the gas button. Usually on the side there is a lever for the gas and the trunk, but I cannot find the gas one. Can someone please help and tell me where it is so I can finally put some gas in my car.

A: Just press the unlock button on your key fob. There is no separate unlock button for the fuel door. It is locked by a piston connected to a motor. You can also unlock it by pressing the button to unlock your car doors from inside the car, or turning the key in the trunk lock. That will also unlock or lock all 4 doors and set the alarm.

And if that piston motor ever dies, there is a red latch cord you can pull inside the cubby hole in the truck on the right side. You just have to remove that cover and reach in there.

Q: How do I install a Aftermarket cd player in a 1998 Audi A6 With Bose?
I want to add a Aftermarket CD Player in a 1998 Audi A6 that has a factory Bose system, I want to keep everything the same accept the head unit. Is there an adapter or soemething I need to Buy? Please Help!!! Thanks

A: Acura bose is COMPLETELY different than Audi bose. Though they are both junk, the acura doesnt need a complete rewire and replacement. The nig reason is that a am almost 100% positive that EVERYTHING would need to be replaced, all speakers included. The fact of the matter is that if from the factory they are 1 ohm speakers, then you cant use them and gotta replace it, and if youre asking you probably dont know how to do it and youre gonna screw up your 40,000 dollar luxury car in some way.

Q: How many converters does the 2001 Audi A6 have?
I have a 2001 audi a6, the check engine light came on and I took it for a code check and it came out to be the catalytic converter. I recently replace them and the check engine light is still on, someone told me that the audis have 4 cataltics 2 on the bittom and 2 on top. Is this true?

A: Yes it has 4 total 2 pre and 2 main. They are sold as units however so if you had the left side replaced they would have done both. Where did you have them replaced at? I guess a muffler shop could weld in a single unit and not replace the pre-cat. There could be other reasons the light is on also.

Q: Why are some 2003 Audi A6’s Have dual exhaust on different sides while some have them next to each other?
I was looking at 2003 audi a6’s some have an exhaust on each side while some have two exhausts together like the bmw 3 series.

A: I believe the last poster is closest to the correct answer.
It is all dependant on the engine size. A6 have three possible engine sizes from that year. A standard 6-cyl (3.0) a turbo 6 (2.7T) and a V-8 (4.2). The 6-cylindar engine has a single exhaust manifold to a single exhaust pipe system. This means the two tips on one side of the car.
The twin-turbo and the v-8 have segregated manifolds for each side of the engine block, hence for the turbo and the v-8, dual exhaust tips.

Q: When to change a timing belt on a Audi A6?
I just purchased a 2004 Audi A6 with about 59,000 miles on it. I don’t have the actual manual so I don’t know when is the proper time to have the timing belt changed. Does anyone know when this is supposed to happen? Its a 3.0 if that helps.

A: 80k miles, and change out the Water Pump at the same time as the impeller is plastic and it WILL break eventually. Horrible design really.

Q: What is the phone jack in my Audi A6 armrest for?
So the other day I was driving a rental Audi A6 (It was a loaner while my A6 was getting some work done) and noticed a phone jack in the armrest. It looks like a phone jack plug for a land line phone or a jack to connect to the internet?

Q: How can I reset radio after changin battery for audi a6 2000?
I just changed my battery for my audi a6 year2000 but I cannot reset the radio. I have the code.

A: Make sure you have the radio code found inside your model information packet inside your glovebox…it will be on the radio and communications pamphlet. It is in safe-mode right now, so press and hold the FM button and the scan button until 1000, or whatever number is stored in your safe mode, appears. Enter your code by selecting the pre-set radio station buttons until the corresponding number appears; press and hold the FM button and scan button again and your radio should be reset.

Q: How do you turn on air conditioner in Audi A6?
I just bought a 1999 Audi A6. I tried turning on the air and it looks like it should be on, but maybe I’m pushing the wrong buttons?? I got the air to come on for a second because I barely felt it coming out but I tried to make it blow harder and I shut it off somehow. I might add it WAS cold, just not a lot was coming out. I am not used to all this luxury in a car! Please help.
I tried that, and it sounds like its trying but nothing comes out. Is it possible the blower went out?! How much does that cost to replace?

Q: How do I fix the brake lights on my Audi A6?
I have an Audi A6 and I have been getting a warning light that says to check my “brake ligthts”. My regular brake lights work fine. The row of small brake lights in the rear window have three lights that are out, but all the rest in the row are working.
Is this a fuse problem or do I need to change the three bulbs? If it’s the bulbs, how do I change them?
Changing a fuse or a light bulb does NOT require a mechanic!!!!

A: If its just 3 lights its not a fuse. If it the LED lights I think you have to replace the hole unit. If its not just start taking things apart till you get to the lights, Im not sure of the specifics for the sedan since I have an avant, but for me there are just a couple screws and then everything thing else pops off with plastic tabs, be careful not to break any.

Q: how can i turn on the radio in a 1999 audi a6 ?

A: the 4 digit security code is usually on a sticker that is placed on the rear trunk lid (next to the vehicle ID sticker)….try the code “1111″ because some dealers, if they buy it while the radio is locked, will have it changed to 1111….

Q: How do you turn off the fans in an 2009 Audi A6?
My buddy has a 2009 Audi A6 and he asked if I could help him turn the fans to the “OFF” posistion. I was like no problem! We fiddled with it for quite some time before giving up. There is no off button, we tried turning the fans down all the way we even went into advanced options but couldnt figure out how the heck to get the fans “OFF!”

A: Any time the A/C compressor is engaged, the fans will be ON to prevent boiling of the refrigerant. If you have an “econ” mode, (and I am sure you do) the fans should shut down, since the compressor is turned off. Try replacing your cooling fan switch, which WAS a problem in some Audi cars. Many libraries carry the “ALLDATA” data base. Using this will enlighten you on proper functioning of ALL audi engine systems. GOOD LUCK!!

Q: Where can I get to download free user manual a 1998 Audi A6?
Just acquired a 1998 A6 and the Outside Temp read out and the Fuel to distance display suddenly went blank. Meanwhile tank guage still functions. Immediately prior however, the tank guage and the said fuel to distance display had started to behave erratically. Any ideas what to do as am new to Audi.
